The annual Buccaneer Days' Coronation pageant, an integral part of the Buc Days celebration, is a long-standing tradition in the Corpus Christi area. This year's event, the 57th Coronation, is the "Court of Glorious Gardens," drawing inspiration from some of the world's more prolific displays of man's creative self-expression.

The Coronation will feature the presentation of 14 young women, some from Corpus Christi, some visiting from other communities, all bejeweled in gowns and trains which bring to life famous gardens and the stories they tell, artfully intertwined to pay tribute to four thousand years of cultural history and personal vision from around the globe. The many participants who entertain the audience, adding to the royal pomp and circumstance, help make this an event you will not want to miss. Two of the young women, whose identities are kept secret until the big night, will be crowned Queen and Princess. Local community leaders will be crowned King, Chancellor, and Steward. This dazzling event is a highlight of the Buccaneer Days Celebration.

And the celebration doesn't stop there. The newly-crowned Court will continue to enchant the community, adding sparkle and glitz to the ever spectacular Buc Day's Illuminated Night Parade on Saturday night, May 1.

This year's Coronation will be held at the American Bank Center Arena. The public is invited to join in the celebration and witness the pageantry, beginning at 7:00 p.m., immediately followed by a reception in the Watergarden room at the American Bank Center.

Tickets are $60 and include the reception. A cash bar will be available.
